About Me

The Monkey King and Journey to the West have always had a big part in my life since childhood. I do have Chinese background after all, and this legendary tale belongs in the DNA of all Chinese people worldwide. My name is Irwen Wong and I am based in Sydney, Australia (hence, this blog has adopted the preference for British English and DD/MM/YYYY format). I have been a big fan Journey to the West story for many years and have taken on reading the full novel in both the original Chinese text and Anthony C. Yu's revised English translation (2012). Over the years, I have worked on studying and researching deeper into the context within and behind the Journey to the West novel. The idea of creating this blog to archive all my studies came to mind one day, which I now dedicate my spare time to develop. Seeing that Journey to the West is a Chinese tale, it's not a story that's popular in the western world at all. I hope to be able to spread awareness and appreciation of this Chinese epic, as well as to share knowledge and interact with fellow fans.

This website serves as a community platform for Journey to the West, as introduced in the Home page. More articles will be published over time, please check back for updates.
